Casablanca (DVD) Review
One of the largest and certainly one of the most quoted, films in cinema history, Casablanca contains all the essential elements of a Hollywood blockbuster: adventure, romance, intrigue, suspense and, of course, evil Nazi bad guys ( If you doubt this last year as an essential element, then on the success of Indiana Jones movie). With a director (Michael Curtiz) and cast second to none, Casablanca makes a strong argument for classification as the best film of all time. Andalthough I do not like cliches, it is true that they do not make 'em like this more ...
Casablanca takes place in a place called Rick, a popular watering hole in Morocco vichey controlled the outskirts of Nazi-controlled Europe. A major transport hub, Casablanca is home to numerous colorful characters with any number of different agendas. arms dealers, spies, and revolutionaries are side-by-side through streets littered with pickpockets. But in Rick's, everyone seemsfun. Owner Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) appears with his life to serving customers and content to make money, at least until the day he goes, Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman), Rick's love of life.
Less than two years ago, when the Nazis marched in Paris, Rick and Ilsa in love. But before the act of fleeing the Nazis, Ilsa sent Rick a note at the station told him do not go with him. He offered no explanation. Well, it was in its appearanceFund with her husband, fugitive and Nazi resistance fighter Victor Laszlo.
As the hours pass, and the Nazis desperately search for Laszlo in an attempt to cut off escape, Rick learns the truth about Ilsa and his reasons for leaving. For now, the fate of Laszlo in his hands. Since his time in Paris, Rick's made a habit of being practical, both in its economic life and in his personal life ... But will Rick use his influence and connections to help himself or Victor Laszlo? It will be his idealism prevail over his hardened pragmatism? The Third Reich closes, and then Rick, Ilsa and Laszlo a decision before it is too late ...
The recipient of much attention and recognition in more than six decades after its release Casablanca is one of the few films like "Cinema Classics", which actually lives up to the hype mega-weighted. The scenery, costumes and direction are absolutely perfect. The dialogue is superb. Bogart and Bergman areperfect as the lovers torn apart, and Claude Rains as Captain Renault unforgettable. If you have an aversion to the movies before 1980, or some other strange reason for losing, I am very encouraged to see Casablanca. You will not regret.
