Barbershop (Special Edition) Review

A day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. Calvin, who inherited the struggling business from his deceased father, views the shop as nothing but a burden and waste of his time. After selling the shop to a local loan shark, Calvin slowly begins to see his father's vision and legacy and struggles with the notion that he just sold it out. The barbershop is filled with characters who share their stories, jokes, trials and tribulations. In the shop we find Eddie, an old barber with strong opinions and no customers. Jimmy is a highly educated barber with a superiority complex who can't stand Isaac, the new, white barber who just wants a shot at cutting some hair. Ricky is an ex-con with two strikes against him and is desperately trying to stay straight. Terri is a hard-edged woman who can't seem to leave her two-timing boyfriend. And lastly there's Dinka, a fellow barber who is madly in love with Terri but doesn't get the time of day. The movie is funny and has a satisfying ending.

Superman Returns (Widescreen Edition) Review

What I like about this Superman is he captures that awkward brilliance that was Christopher Reeves - even kinda looks like him!
But whereas the movie starts strong and makes us feel very exhilarated, the latter half of the movie falls flat.
Gene Hackman played a Lex Luthor that you would despise yet also laugh off and laugh at. He wasn't a nemesis that you would fear, like the new Batman's Heath Ledger's Joker. In the first Christopher Reeve's Superman, it was all about Superman, and Reeves carried the whole film. For some reason, I didn't feel Brandon Routh's Superman carried the film, and worse yet, I didn't feel Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor had that Hackman magnetism.
I guess in the end, although this is the "New," it's just not the same - it doesn't carry the same magic feeling.
Hopefully the next one will delve deeper into the character, but just not on the superficial level.
To me, the most "human" film of all the superhero movies is the Spiderman trilogy, and I think since Superman can be a really deep character to explore into, hopefully it will develop into more of that direction, than the usual Hollywood blockbuster movie devoid of any real story and character development.
I enjoyed it, but it's not on the same level as the new Spiderman and Batman (even the new (Edward Norton's) Hulk has better character development).

If Richard Donner's 1978 feature film Superman: The Movie made us believe a man could fly, Bryan Singer's 2006 follow-up, Superman Returns, lets us remember that a superhero movie can make our spirits soar. Superman (played by newcomer Brandon Routh) comes back to Earth after a futile five-year search for his destroyed home planet of Krypton. As alter ego Clark Kent, he's eager to return to his job at the Daily Planet and to see Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth). Lois, however, has moved on: she now has a fiancé (James Marsden), a son (Tristan Leabu), and a Pulitzer Prize for her article entitled "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." On top of this emotional curveball, his old archrival Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) is plotting the biggest land grab in history.

Singer, who made a strong impression among comic-book fans for his work on the X-Men franchise and directed Spacey in The Usual Suspects, brings both a fresh eye and a sense of respect to the world's oldest superhero. He borrows John Williams's great theme music and Marlon Brando's voice as Jor-El, and the story (penned by Singer's X-Men collaborators Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris) is a sort-of-sequel to the first two films in the franchise (choosing to ignore that the third and fourth movies ever happened). The humorous and romantic elements give the movie a heart, Singer's art-deco Metropolis is often breathtaking, and the special effects are elegant and spectacular, particularly an early airplane-disaster set-piece. Of the cast, Routh is excellent as the dual Superman/Clark, Spacey is both droll and vicious as Luthor, and Parker Posey gets the best lines as Luthor's moll Kitty. But at 23, Bosworth seems too young for the five-years-past-grizzled Lois. It's nice to see Noel Neill, Jack Larson (both from the classic Adventures of Superman TV series), and Eva Marie-Saint on the screen as well. Superman Returns is one of those projects that was in development for seemingly forever, but it was worth the wait -- it's the most enjoyable superhero movie since Spider-Man 2 and The Incredibles. --David Horiuchi

Monitor the CPU temperature to avoid melting

The computer is overheating, something that is detrimental to the computer, and although most new computers are devices (hardware and software) to protect this, there is still a common occurrence. Mainly due to higher powered graphics for intense gaming or watching movies online, CPU speed in general, and also a thing called overclocking. There are many signs to look for if the CPU temperature is too high, some of them could notalso recognize that this is the case.

Also, you should do regularly, sweeping away the dust (with compressed air or foot pump), the fans, both inside the computer and power supply. Finally, try to keep your computer in a cold work surface.

The Toy Review

I won't post too much since enough good things have been said. Since most specifics come from those of use who were between 10-15 when this movie came out, it goes to show how our mentality was the 1st true generation to mature into a society where the racial undertones of such movies was lost on us to the actual comedic content.

For those who stick to the stereotypes to bash while veiwing this movie, you have truly wasted a good performance of two comedic geniuses working together. For those of use who enjoy the movie, let's continue to challenge those who bash it!!!

Josie and the Pussycats (PG Version) Review

Wow... I'm shocked. I loved this film!

I was trolling YouTube for some video of the original cartoon and came across the PG rated version of this film that someone has uploaded. I didn't even *know* that a film version had been made. So out of curiosity I clicked on it ... and found myself laughing from the very first scene!

I've read a lot of reviews and found some people that just don't get the product placement joke but I thought it was hilarious, especially considering that the producers got not one penny from these companies. From the moment I spotted Seth Green in the opening scene I thought "How bad can this be?" Then I saw Alan Cumming and I just had to keep watching.

So I kept watching... and watching... and laughing. Then I spotted Parker Posey and thought "No way!" The cast was perfect but I want to single out Tara Reid as Melody. Let me just say up front that I have never been a fan of Ms Reid but her take on Melody was nearly perfect. I say nearly because there is one aspect of Melody that I think a human actor just cannot carry off and can only be done in animation. The rest however she did to perfection. Melody is not just another dumb, wacky blond like so many people seem to believe. She is innocence encapsulated to the point where you just love to listen to her and watch her antics. Just like Josie says to her in the film "That's what I love about you!" Indeed the only part of the cartoon Melody that Ms Reid couldn't pull off, and didn't even try -credit to whoever's idea this was - was the blinking of the eyes as she tries to process in her head what it was she just saw or heard. Just a great piece by Ms Reid.

I can't believe it took me nine years to realize this film even existed. I would recommend it to all and I will be buying a copy of it.

Josie's going to be the Next Big Thing, and to her manager (Alan Cumming) and Megarecords mogul Fiona (Parker Posey), the other Pussycats are expendable baggage in their scheme to dictate the cool quotient of teenagers everywhere.

Shrewdly concocted by codirectors Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan, this wildly comedic update of the Archie comic book (and early-'70s cartoon show) is a deliriously entertaining assault on pop-cultural flotsam, with a disposable boy-band (aptly named "Du Jour") and cross-product marketing ploys that perpetuate blind conformity among gullible teens. Blatant product placements dominate virtually every colorful scene as Josie gamely embraces the cultural blight it claims to criticize, but this isn't Hollywood hypocrisy. Elfont and Kaplan willfully bite the hand that feeds them, and they're having loads of fun while advocating independent opinion. Cook and her pals are more honestly sexy than Britney Spears, and they make genuinely catchy music (although Cook's vocals were dubbed). It's pure fluff, but Josie and the Pussycats was conceived in such high spirits that it's hard to imagine how it could be improved. The Best of Youth Review

Considering that the people in this story are everyday people, we quickly became interested in their lives. The acting is wonderful, easily making you forget that the characters are not in the room with you. As they age you see the history of Italy unfolding, watching it affect their lives for the good or bad. The family's love for each other is touching. My husband rented The Best of Youth, ended up telling me about it and got me interested. We kept it till I could see it and he watched it again with me, then bought it to keep--he NEVER buys DVD's--always rents. Obviously a great story!!

The Best of Youth Specifications

368 minutes of Italian TV miniseries--yes, that is indeed six hours' worth--comes unspooling in The Best of Youth, a stirring and beautiful experience. The film needs its running time to immerse us in the world of the Carati family from 1966 to near the present day. Two brothers are the primary focus: Nicola (Luigi Lo Cascio), a responsible medical student, and Matteo (Alessio Boni), a troubled soldier. After a youthful road trip, their paths diverge, but each is carried along by the changing, sometimes violent, political weather of Italy in the 1970s and '80s. Life issues surge and ebb, with the increasing sense that Matteo is a lost soul, beyond even the help of the luminous woman (unforgettable Maya Sansa) who comes into his life.

Truth be told, The Best of Youth has some of the limitations of made-for-TV fare, from the simplicity of its themes to its cheap-looking makeup. (Those beards are not convincing.) But by the time you've spent a couple of hours with these characters, you're deeply invested in their joys and sorrows. At that point the measured pace begins to feel like the rhythm of life, and the people onscreen a mirror of ourselves. It's probably true that the cultural references and specific historic events will have more resonance for Italians than other viewers, but everything translates. Director Marco Tullo Giordana maintains the tone by allowing details to accumulate, and the location shooting, including a stint at the cinematically rich island of Stromboli, is consistently rich (his sampling of the music from Jules and Jim feels like a shortcut somehow, but who could argue that the music isn't perfectly in key with the melancholy mood?). The final act delivers an emotional coup de grace that has been thoroughly earned. And you'll feel like you earned it, too, having spent six hours with this moving film. --Robert Horton

X-Men 1.5 Review

What Singer does well is give the film a feeling grounded in reality. His "Star Trek" approach to X-men is unique and the cinematography of the film is beautiful. I love the openings of the film with magneto and rogue. I feel that everyone got a decent amount of time on screen and the performances from xaiver and magento couldn't have been better. They were brilliant. and even thought they made a lot of changes to the rogue character, the way she ties in to magento's plot and the bond her and wolverine make and how he saves her was very touching. and i love the soundtrack as well, the rogue/wolverine theme was brilliant. i like how this movie wasn't all about action but about the actor's performances. everyone did a great job. This movie really captures what x-men are all about and despite the changes they made to rogue and the unexplored past of some characters (for budget and running time reasons obviously) this is in my top 5 comic films of all time. a true sci-fi masterpiece. FLAWLESS!

DVD Movie Review - Deception

Deception is a thriller sexually driven electricity produced by director Marcel Langenegger. This film is about a seemingly) lost alive accountant named Jonathan (Ewen McGregor), the super Jackman is a charismatic lawyer named Wyatt (Hugh. The two began a friendship that was very good to Jonathan Wyatt introduced to sex underground club known as the list when Jonathan hears the girl of his dreams (Michelle Williams) met. Movie plans for 2010

I take the movie with my wife when we met and I think this is an activity that could team up together. It has also start turned into a short break away from children, all three of them, using my wife to go shopping for light while waiting for the film.

I believe, however, take their preferences in the choice of films to see. That is to say, I felt the apprehension of war movie heavily as the Pacific, they do not like. I think that most womennot take too well to the war movies.

A sweet lightweight for those moments when simply do not want to be disturbed that the brain tends to write really, Chick flicks a bad name. Do not bother at all,unless the loss of 88 precious minutes of your time regret in this life.

In his quick way to DVD "When in Rome", the lamest simply appropriates more mundane aspects of the love story heavily since 1953 comedy classic "Roman Holiday" begins his public tiptoed around the country for a female indiscriminate .

Saved from oblivion only by a few funny extravagant performance full of self-character Dax Shepard, Danny DeVito as well as an energetic, aJon Heder and Will Arnett Nutsy bit, the film does not resort to substance. Kristen Bell is undeniably cute, but most definitely not Meg Ryan. It begins with some pleasant personality and never built on it from the first scene.

The plot is true that some innocent cheerful mood, but try a lot of nothing.

Beth (Kristen Bell), an ambitious young art curator, Guggenheim Museum junior, is disappointed by the love story once too often, decisions and dumping rightbefore a big fundraiser to benefit from the time of their sister (Alexis Dzien) suddenly announced a suitor to take beautiful wedding in Rome, around for a weekend visit.

Once in Rome, the wedding, she meets hunky Nick (Josh Duhamel), a New York Daily News sportswriter, former college friend of her sister's new husband (Luca Calvani) 's. Nick can actually be installed already. This move is another child to underline that things may or may not look goodBeth.

Suddenly, a rebellious mood and soon swept haughtily some magic coins seized from a well of love. This, in a magical touch of the well is an attraction for the four boys who threw the coins are very original, everyone, of course, New Yorkers, all of which now followed her home in New York. Nick regard of their being the subject of many male inclinations is good for you.

The other four are a very strange group. This is a crazy street magician(Jon Heder), a tycoon Sausage (Danny DeVito), a painter who loves to love (Will Arnett) and a model full-of-itself (Dax Shepard). When they do their amorous adventures, poor Nick has no idea why he prefers cool to him.

A sequence, the laughter would have standing, but not when Nick and Beth in a cafe in blackouts, where guests are blind, their life or another. But the humor is cheap and unimaginative.

Duhamel has a little useful to understandcomic timing but he has the character, humility OK. And check Heder, who like in-joke, again with Efren Ramirez, with whom in "Napoleon Dynamite coupled played." Danny DeVito is a bit 'more outrageous given the other dimension. But yes, Rome is shown in his romantic feelings.

This is certainly a happy little effort - little movies -.
